BritBox, the subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) streaming service from BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, and ITV, the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster, which launched exclusively in the US earlier in 2017, is now available on Amazon Channels.

Prime members can subscribe to BritBox for $6.99 (€5.95) per month after a seven-day free trial, and gain access to thousands of hours of British programming with Amazon Channels. Offering the most comprehensive collection of British television available digitally, BritBox is the exclusive SVoD home to US premieres of popular UK programmes such as In The Dark, The Moorside, Mum, and the long-form adaptation of Zadie Smith’s NW. Also included are renowned series such as Poirot, Upstairs Downstairs, Miss Marple, and the largest collection of classic Doctor Who.

The service also features a ‘Now’ category that offers programmes 24-hours after their UK broadcast – shows such as EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Papers, and DIY SOS, with more to come this autumn.

“The initial rollout of BritBox earlier this year was met with a great response from British TV lovers and Anglophiles, surpassing our expectations,” said Soumya Sriraman, President, BritBox. “As BritBox continues on an upwards trajectory, this expansion onto Amazon Channels will provide the opportunity to reach even more loyal, and potentially new, fans.”

Amazon Prime members can subscribe to BritBox with Amazon Channels, accessible through the Prime Video app on TVs, streaming media players, mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire tablets, or online

Today CBS and Amazon announced a deal to bring CBS All Access to the Amazon Channels platform.

With this deal, you will be able to use Amazon to manage your subscription to the commercial-free version of CBS All Access and access the CBS content through the Amazon app. (CBS said the $5.99 limited commercial plan will be coming to Amazon channels in the coming months.

“CBS All Access on Amazon Channels offers a seamless way for Amazon Prime members to get all the benefits of CBS All Access, including their favorite CBS shows plus premium original series like  Star Trek: Discovery, No Activity and The Good Fight,” said Rob Gelick, senior VO and General Manager, Digital Platforms, CBS Interactive Entertainment. “As the first Amazon Channels partner to offer a linear feed of a subscriber’s local broadcast station in addition to video on demand, we’re thrilled to bring live programming to Prime members.”

“CBS has produced some of the most popular shows in television history – they have a fantastic selection of hit series,” said Greg Hart, VP, Amazon Video. “Amazon Prime members can now add CBS All Access to their Prime membership and watch the latest episodes of critically-acclaimed series, sports programming and award shows. We’re thrilled to work with CBS to bring their cutting-edge content to Amazon Prime members with Amazon Channels.”

You can subscribe to CBS All Access through the Amazon Channels HERE.

Both premium networks are now available through Amazon Channels, the retail giant's program for streaming video subscription packages. An HBO subscription will cost an additional $14.99, while Cinemax will be an extra $9.99.

To put that into perspective, a subscription for HBO Now — the network’s own streaming service that allows people to watch HBO content without having a cable subscription — costs $14.99 by itself. That means there aren’t any real savings Prime subscribers will get from using the service to add HBO onto their monthly plan, which is standard for Channel subscribers. Cinemax doesn't currently have an equivalent to HBO Now; the network's Max Go app requires a pay-TV subscription

Amazon is the latest company to announce an HBO and Cinemax streaming package for subscribers. Recently, AT&T confirmed that those who subscribe to its new over-the-top (OTT) service, DirecTV Now, will able able to get a bundled version of HBO and Cinemax for $5. This is on top of a $35 monthly fee that gives subscribers access to more than 100 channels. AT&T is in the process of acquiring Time Warner — which owns HBO and its subsidiary Cinemax — for $85 billion.

Currently, an Amazon Prime subscription costs users either $10.99 a month or $99 a year. Alternatively, if subscribers are only interested in streaming video, they can choose to sign up for Amazon Video, which runs $8.99 a month. In comparison, the most basic Netflix subscription costs $7.99 a month, but the more common choice, which allows up to two screens to stream at the same time, goes for $9.99.
